i'm so sorry i've neglected to tell you about Chubby Scooter Kid before now. he's a little roly poly fellow in our neighborhood who appears in our our driveway on his razor scooter at random moments. we have theories about how he might be some mythical guardian of the neighborhood, hiding in the body of a young boy, so we are generally very friendly to him. he always has some peculiar question, or a standard greeting followed by some complete non sequitor. the day he started quizzing us about how old we were, it was revealed that he and Redbeard share the same birthday. i told him to stop by on said shared birthday and we'd give him some of whatever cake we were having. he told us it would be a Tuesday. visiting friends of ours have been stopped on the street and been informed of this fact as well. yesterday he wanted to know if our car was a gas-saver. it is.
we have wondered what his name is for ages and always forget to ask. it really ought to be Timmy or Bobby or Jeffy or some other ten year old boy name ending in "y," or maybe something even more East Nashville like Darnell or Leroy. yesterday the truth came to light, when i opened the door after hearing a knock, and found him with Frozen Dixie Cup from my lemonade stand blog post earlier this summer. they may or may not inhabit the same house and/or be related. so Frozen Dixie cup was selling wrapping paper and whatnot from a catalog to raise money for his school. i was too eager to learn more about these local chaps to send them away, so i flipped through the pages and found some giftwrap i didn't mind giving their school $8 for. and when i learned their names... it was kind of a letdown. i must say, the truth was not as intriguing as the mystery life we imagined for them. so i just can't tell you their names. The Legend of Chubby Scooter Kid and Frozen Dixie Cup will live on.

i like food, food tastes good
i just made some ginger ice cream with ginger creme cookies in it, and lemme tell ya, it is a WINNER. i'm making classic cookies & cream as well. it's a double ice cream day here in my kitchen.
in lieu of whining about how busy i've been, or moaning over the THREE exshpernsive printers it took for me to get one that works, i'll just show you some (poor cameraphone pictures of) cakes i've made lately.
tacos, anyone? strawberry kiwi pico de gallo?
mmm, pamcakes.
love you more than toast.
